My Testimony, J. Klopfenstein

I was 12 years old when the Lord came to me and saved me. Since that time I have always had a longing to know God. If God is life and gives life, then a person should be able to get to know Him!

This longing stayed with me during my high school and college years. When I got married in 1963, I realized my husband had the same desire to know God, too. However, as several years went by and we began to realize that we, our Christian relatives and Christian friends were not much different from the worldly people we knew. We seemed to stay the same in our Christian life year after year. We began to wonder if God was real. In the spring of 1968, we asked God to show us if He was real and if so, what He was doing on earth. We were tired of being “nominal Christians” and we either wanted to be involved in what God was doing or else we would go the way of the world.

God answered our prayer within a few weeks. That summer we were invited to a local church conference in Los Angeles, California, and there began our journey to know the Lord. We saw how we can touch, realize and experience God by means of our human spirit (John 4:24)!

To this very day God is so real and I am learning to know Him a little more each day by contacting Him through His Word, through fellowship with Him and with the many members of His one Body, which is the church (Ephesians 1:22-23).

God is not meeting my desire to know Him for my sake, but for His great purpose (Ephesians 3:11). He is growing in me as He is in so many of His children so that He can build us together as one for His glory and expression in this universe (Romans 15:5-7).
